The Short Giraffe is a unique, boutique confections catering business that started with years of family recipes, a passion for baking and a dream of business ownership behind it.

My mother taught me how to bake. She’s amazing. My grandmother taught me that everything should and could be done with style. I miss her. Thus, The Short Giraffe Mini Confections and Catering was born!

I eat (lots of eating), sleep and breathe new recipes, concoct new flavor combinations and dream about sweet designs for our desserts. It is here that you can find the most flavorful and delicious sweets for every lovely occasion.

These treats are pretty, indeed, and they are always creatively crafted to fit each event. Our standard, however, is to keep the most delicious flavor possible in every bite. Buying local, prepping fresh ingredients to order, and infusing natural flavors into every recipe are most important in our daily efforts. Southern baking roots combine with a flair for artful taste combinations, offering up an endless array of sweets to suit any palate.

Oh, did I mention they’re mini? Truth is, the littler the dessert, the more of them you can eat. And that’s just fine in my book

Leigh is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in Psychology. After a number of years working in professional careers in her field, she decided to pursue her passion and dream of baking and catering full time. The business quickly blossomed and has become the boutique bakery and booming specialty catering business that it is today! Leigh is a Sarasota native and Mother to her beautiful daughter, Lola Elizabeth.
